Ivy and I have been thinking for ages about what to put on the outside walls. The photo below is of a house that is almost the identical same shape as ours. But we don't really like the look of it. The brown on the right is essentially bathroom tiles and the white is made up of lots of tiny little white stones. We want something that looks cool and is not too expensive.

The two pics below are off a cafe in Korea. We think it rocks. It's very simple with just a cement finish. The part sticking out on the right is wooden and that could replace the brown bathroom tile bit on the above picture. It's not set in stone yet but this is basically what we are leaning towards doing.

  1. I dunno. It looks kinda cold. Any other options?

  2. Find the best Chinglish ad you have ever seen and then use tile to write that message large into your house. You, know, something like, "We reach for the sky. Neither does civilization." That would be a whole lot of awesome (until you didn't like it anymore). . .

  3. Actually I quite like the example you have shown, but I can see that the concrete/wooden option like the Korean cafe would be interesting too - I do like a mix of textures on the exterior - what about some Central Otago schist??

  4. I'm dismayed that we forgot to take a picture while I was there yesterday. I was the first person to run to your house. And in the dog universe, Milo officially owns it.

  5. Sue I like the first example too but all houses currently built in Taiwan look like that so we want something a bit different. Yes to the Central Otago schist. Please bring some when you next visit.

Ryan, Madison had that owned months ago.
