Well that's wrong too.

The balcony railings have been put up. But they are wrong. The railings should be simple straight lines. Ivy almost shat the bed when she saw them. This will probably involve an argument with Mr Lin. He's on his way to the house to have a look and see what happened. Good chance that our railings have been put on another house somewhere in Hualien.

Front porch again.

Now it has grouting.

Septic Tank

The least exciting thing to happen to our house so far. We got a septic tank. I don't even know why I am putting up. Shitty topic I guess.

Front porch

The tiles for the front porch got laid today. It might be the most colorful part of the whole house so far. It's not quite finished as the grouting and cement sidings are not done.

New neighbors

The neighbors across the street and down a bit broke ground on their new place today. I hope all the noisy work will be done by the time we move in.

Scaffolding is down!

Not sure if this happened yesterday or early this morning but this is the first opportunity to see what the house really looks like without it being covered in iron and mesh. I think it looks friggin' awesome!

This won't do.

The electrician has been back to put in ADSL and cable tv sockets. Looks terrible. Don't know how they screwed that up so badly but they all look like this. Will have to speak to Mr Lin about it and see how it can be fixed.

塞水路

Three guys were on site today to put in 塞水路. I have no idea what that is in English. But it stops rain getting in so is probably important.

 Apparently it takes a week to dry. Jerk could have told me that before I stuck my finger in.

Opening the concertina door.

The plastic protective covering has been removed from all the windows so that they can place silicone around the edges to keep rain water out. It meant that today was the first day we could open the kitchen concertina door to see what that will look like.

And it looks friggin cool. Now we just need a deck outside there to make it perfect.

Wiring

Not sure when this happened but I assume this morning. An electrician has been in and threaded wires through all the plugs and sockets. Things are moving along very quickly and smoothly right now.

Window Work

Buddy in these pics job was to remove the plastic protective covering from all the windows and frames. I kinda wanted to help but had to get to work. He'll remove the plastic and then somebody puts silicone between the frames and the walls to prevent water getting in and then another chap will put glass in. Hopefully this will be done this week.

I only had time to stick around and see the first one removed. We chose a black matte finish for all the frames and I think it looks quite striking against the cement walls.

Exterior Finished

After we finally got two days in a row of no rain (we've now had four!) the painters got back to work and finished everything.

Hopefully all this scaffolding will be removed later this week so we can get a better idea of how it looks.

Back to work.

After three weeks of solid rain, the painters could finally come back and finish the job. No other work could be done on our house until this was finished. They thought they could probably finish the paint work today. Then what happens?
Scaffolding comes down.
Window panes go in.
Doors go in.
Right of use license will be applied for.
Then we move in!

First floor tiles. Again.

The tiler has been back to finish the grouting between the tiles. Looks cool. Though my camera is still taking shiny pics. Need to work out how to turn off the shiny function.

Also not sure why every shot looks like the tiles are a different colour.

Painting Part 2

I don't know why everything on my camera looks so shiny at the moment. And that is not a ninja on the scaffolding, he's a painter.

頂樓陽台的防水漆已經完成了，各位好友，你們覺得如何呢??
師傅用了三種漆，國泰雙液蝦密精油+硬化劑+香蕉水(不懂為何要家香蕉水)
噴三道，噴了之後會抓出水泥的紋路，水泥的顏色也會比較深
當下雨時，雨水會附著在表面，不會被吸進去，達到防水作用
且上漆後....水泥師傅的工有沒有做好、細不細心....一切都看的一清二楚 ==

Painting

We've had two days of blue skies (finally) so the painters were able to start work at 8.30 this morning.
搶著幾天的好天氣，趕緊請油漆師傅漆外牆防水漆。

It will take three guys three days to finish the job.
師傅說大約要三天的工作時間

 

So materials too. 

First step is to scrape the walls clean of any gunk.

Then a test splotch to make sure we're ok with the colours. Can't really tell from this splotch cos it was half dry. Will post more pics over the weekend.
這是上防水漆後水泥粉光的顏色，等漆乾透之後，顏色會淡很多水泥的紋路也會跑出來

OS:今天師傅用了快一整天清理牆面，天氣真的有夠熱，辛苦你們了!!!
      下午又下雨....不知道明天可不可以繼續施工喔= =

That's the spare bedroom.

The first floor tiles got laid today. And I did a crap job of taking pictures. The pics came out really shiny and the floor is not shiny at all. Nor is it as orange as it looks here.

We've had a whole day without rain. That is in fact newsworthy at this end. The painters have been on standby for weeks waiting to finish the exterior. Once that is done the scaffolding can be removed and we can apply for the final building license. Once that is done, we can apply for mortgages and start moving in! After we get window panes and doors of course.

經過了這幾週的爆雨......我想我家外牆牆壁水分吸的很飽了......
好不容易這幾天太陽公公賞臉，給我們幾天的時間趕工
一樓地板鋪好啦!!!!希望今天整天的好天氣，維持個幾天，
我們的外牆....就可以做防水+油漆，之後就可以裝玻璃啦!!!可喜可賀啊
快要可以申請驗收了。^
