Avocado!

So far we have two orange trees, one lemon, one guava, one cinnamon, one avocado and 25 banana trees.

More planting

 We got round to planting some more fruit trees today. The above guava tree was from Jenny Peng's Mum's farm.

 This lemon tree we moved from our current house. We thought we killed it but with all the rain of the last two days it has
原本以為快不行的香水檸檬，意外的發了很多芽

This plant was a gift from Dr Kate. In Chinese it is called a golden shower and has beautiful flowers. Clearly the name in Chinese doesn't have the same connotations that the English does.
這棵是阿勃勒樹苗，是學生家長送的
以後會開一串串的小黃花喔，遠看會很像黃金雨，很美
所以我們種在木平台旁邊，以後可以觀賞^^

I'm board.

 Ivy had the cool idea of putting a blackboard in the kitchen to write notes and scribble. Derik who owns the International English Center had a spare one lying around so we got it, chopped it in half and installed half in the kitchen and half in the office.

Staircase completed

We went to the house this morning. It's a typhoon day so no work. We put a second layer of varnish on the stairs then took a break for lunch before going back to put the third and final layer on. I like it a lot. Ivy's dad said it looks like the kinda staircase that you would see outdoors. Which is kinda true but it has a very country home feel to it so we're quite satisfied with the result.

上漆後，木頭表面比較不會有一層灰灰的感覺
質感有好一些
其實我們誤將室外木板裝在室內
但釘都釘好了
只好多上點透明漆來安慰自己  T^T

Floor finished!

Ivy's dad finished this today. I think it looks great. The final step was to place a small skirting board around the base. I am guessing this was the most fiddly part of the job. The colour is slightly different to the flooring but not enough to worry about. Thanks to Ivy's old man!

Flooring Part 2

 Bedroom flooring got finished today.
主臥室鋪完了，明天會進行收邊

 As did the walk in wardrobe.

The office should get done tomorrow. We have to go and pick up the edging tomorrow morning and then it is done.

Flooring

Mini Lee started work on the master bedroom flooring today.
老爸!!!辛苦你了。噴淚中....

 There is a base of polystyrene to keep moisture out and then some thin board to raise the height to the height of the staircase and then the floorboards. I like the colour, I think it's a nice contrast to the burnt red walls.

 I took some pics today to get a close up view of the woodwork. This is from the top floor.

 From the office. We are seriously considering not putting in railings here. Mr Lin, the builder, I'm sure will pick the cheapest ones available and he mentioned that they would be in black. Because the staircases are in two halves I think we can do without them.

Walk through.

We finished all the staircase today so I made a short video to give everyone an idea of what it looks like. We are really happy with the finish.

I was sitting on the staircase and realized that we had somehow managed to get a reversed Italian flag in the house.

We had a long day today. We finished the staircase. I'll post a video of that shortly.

Staircase.

 We began work on the staircase today. We borrowed these tools from Ivy's brother and that is Mini Lee getting to work on cutting the boards.

 The boards are slightly too wide so we cut off the excess and attach it to the bottom so when the boards are laid down it will give them impression of being a lot thicker than they actually are. Not sure if giving Ivy a nail gun was the the greatest of ideas though.

We got about seven done but had to leave as the All Blacks are starting soon. We left Mini Lee hard at it. Will see how much we can finish tomorrow.

Staircase

The paintwork on the staircase is done and I delivered the wood during the week for the landings. I just wanted to have a look how the finished product would look when it is completed.
這個週末就要進行樓梯工程

 There will be no railing for the bottom chunk of the stairs here.

And the wood won't stick out quite so much. Work begins maybe on Saturday or Sunday on this as long as Ivy's old man and I can find the appropriate tools for the job. And some cold beers.

 I think this morning Ivy was making an attempt to be in every photo she could. Well, why not? It's her house!

 That's the library/third floor guest room.

This is the office on the second floor. Mrs Jones wanted a feature wall. It's a different green to the one on the first floor. A lot brighter. The designer in the house requires white walls to compare colours when she is working but a green feature wall is ok.
